Steps to a worry-free quartz and granite kitchen countertop installation
RONA offers a variety of materials and colours to fit any need and kitchen style
Granite
Strong, stylish, and scratch-resistant. Granite countertops are made from one of the toughest and most resilient natural stones in the world. Available in a variety of colours and styles, granite is a popular choice for its durability in the kitchen and luxurious look in the kitchen.
Quartz
Beautiful and low-maintenance, quartz countertops are non-porous, so they resist messy spills and don't need sealing. Quartz is made from a mix of natural quartz minerals and polymer resins, which makes it heat, stain and scratch resistant.
Need help finding the right product for you?
Refer to the example below to adequately measure your countertop, the edge and the backsplash
How to calculate the square footage:
Step 1: Divide the surface into rectangles and attribute each piece a letter (A, B ...).
Step 2: For each piece, multiply the width by the depth to obtain sq. in.
In this example:
A: 96’’ x 25.5’’ = 2 448’’
B: 82.5’’ x 25.5’’ = 2 103.75’’
Step 3: Add each surface’s sq. in. and divide by 144 to obtain sq. ft.:
(2 448’’ + 2 103.75’’) ÷ 144 = 31.6 sq. ft.
How to calculate the edge:
Step 4: Determine and add each side that will require an edge profile and divide by 12 to obtain the total linear feet.
(25.5’’ + 82.5’’+ 70.5’’ + 25.5’’) ÷ 12 = 17 LIN^ft
Step 5: Identify the edges that will require polishing with a dot.
How to calculate a backsplash:
Step 6: Determine and add each length that will have a backsplash and divide by 12 to determine lin. ft.
(96’’ + 108’’) ÷ 12 = 2 448’’
Step 7: Using a thicker line, identify areas where a backsplash will be installed.

• Inspect the countertop for chips, cracks or scratches
• Make sure all adhesives (glue, silicone, caulk) are complete
• Avoid cutting directly on the countertop surface
• Nonabrasive cleaners only, that do not contain bleach, solvents, acids or high alkaline
• Avoid putting too much weight on your new counters as chips, cracks and scratches from heavy objects or misuse are not covered under warranty
Note quartz and natural stone surface may develop minor material scratches over time, which is completely normal and repairable.
